It’s not all about science. Sometimes we need to take a break and let our minds wander.

Styria, the southeastern province of Austria, is also commonly named „The green heart of Austria“ for its rich nature. Get a good overview over this beautiful area and all kinds of possible activities here.

What better place to relax than in the vineyards of southern Austria? For a great view, one can visit the medieval castle “Riegersburg“, offering plenty of activities from hiking, museum exhibitions, adventure climbing or a falconer, showing off the skills and maneuvers of their raptors.

Traditional food is an essential part of Austrian culture. A beautiful way to combine the beautiful scenery of the Styrian vinyards with a delicious meal is visiting one of the many „Buschenschanken“. Here delicious local food is served right at the source: from farmers that produce most of their ingredients themselves. The food is accompanied by local wine or homemade fruit juices and is usually very reasonably priced. Whoever prefers sweet dishes should not miss the opportunity to visit Zotter, a chocolate manufacturer. On a tour through the factory, visitors get to experience the process of chocolate making from bean to bar and taste the chocolate at every step of the way.

Vineyards and soft hills are nice but you want to go higher? No problem! Austria is famous for its mountains and even though July is not a good time for skiing, hiking fans will not want for anything.
